Whitdel Arts presents Engage, an exhibition of interactive art dedicated to the concept of allowing the participant to engage with the work by providing input or becoming the input.

Engage will feature a collection of artwork from national and international artists that allows the participant to engage with the work to create a unique experience, while allowing the art to achieve its objective.  The exhibition will feature diverse mediums and formats that have the unique capacity to transform and react to the presence and point of view of the viewer, allowing the observer to become the contents of the piece or to perform an active role in the creation of the unfolding story of the work.

 Exhibiting artists:

Angelo Conti

Nicolas de Cosson

Micho Detronik

Please join us for an opening reception for the artists on Saturday, October 6th.  During the reception, Konic Thtr, an artistic platform based in Barcelona, Spain, will be performing their piece, Cuerpo SMS.   This interactive dance-performance piece is a great expression of what can be done with technology within a vibrant performance.   Participants are encouraged to interact with the performance using a variety of  technological devices such as cameras, tablets and mobile phones.  Light and movement sensors controlled by the audience create part of the audiovisual elements of the work.   With the support of the Cultural Department of the Consulate General of Spain in New York City and the Ramon Llull Institute, Konic Thtr will be developing Cuerpo SMS in Detroit through an artistic development residency with Spread Art.  Artists and Spread Art founders Thomas Bell and Christina deRoos will be participating in Konic Thtr’s performance.
