Oh, Flux! A Detroit Clay Collaboration

 November 16 – December 15, 2012

Reception: Friday, November 16, 7-10 pm

Whitdel Arts presents its first-ever ceramics exhibition Oh, Flux! A Detroit Clay Collaboration, a strongly-balanced collection dedicated to what is happening in local clay right now.

Oh, Flux! A Detroit Clay Collaboration will unveil the current spectrum of Detroit’s broadly-ranged ceramic community. The exhibition will feature local works from both established clay artists and newer ceramists. With the city’s rich ceramic history, the revival of local clay studios and the heightened attention of artists, this collection comes at an pivotal time for Detroit. The exhibition represents the broad range of possibilities and approaches that the medium of clay offers. From functional to non-functional, electric fired to wood fired and raku, this exhibition will foster a better understanding of what’s happening today in Detroit clay. Oh, Flux! will also provide the unique opportunity for Detroit area ceramists, potters and sculptors alike to display their recent works as one, united community.
